About the team

Kinaxis is seeking a highly analytical Software Developer I to join its Operations Research (OR) team. This role is focused on developing the scientific and optimization capabilities that power the Kinaxis Maestro platform.

As part of the Algorithms organization, you will work at the intersection of Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Engineering to solve complex supply chain planning problems. You will contribute to the design, implementation, testing, and enhancement of optimization models, simulation engines, predictive analytics solutions, and AI-driven decision intelligence capabilities used by some of the world's largest enterprises.

 

This position is ideal for candidates with strong foundations in Operations Research, Mathematical Modeling, Statistics, Machine Learning, and Python software development.

What you will do

Key Responsibilities

Operations Research & Scientific Computing

  • Develop and maintain optimization and analytical software components for supply chain planning applications.
  • Implement mathematical models, optimization frameworks, simulation models, and decision support methodologies.
  • Translate business problems into scalable analytical and optimization solutions.
  • Contribute to improving solution quality, scalability, robustness, and computational performance.
  • Validate algorithms through experimentation, benchmarking, and statistical analysis.
  • Work with large-scale planning, inventory, network, and resource allocation problems.

AI & Machine Learning

  • Support the development of AI-powered planning and decision intelligence capabilities.
  • Build data preparation, feature engineering, model training, and inference workflows.
  • Apply machine learning techniques to forecasting, prediction, classification, and recommendation problems.
  • Collaborate with scientists to productionize advanced analytical and AI solutions.
  • Assist in developing explainable and trustworthy AI capabilities.

Software Product Development

  • Develop production-quality software using Python.
  • Design reusable, maintainable, and testable software components.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture reviews.
  • Troubleshoot software defects and performance bottlenecks.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and engineering best practices.

Research & Innovation

  • Evaluate emerging techniques in Operations Research, AI, and Machine Learning.
  • Participate in proof-of-concepts and innovation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring scientific innovations into enterprise products.

  • Familiarity with cloud-native applications and distributed computing.
  • Experience handling large datasets and computationally intensive problems.

A successful candidate will typically have an educational background in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science, combined with strong Python programming skills and exposure to AI/ML. They are excited about building scientific products that combine Operations Research, optimization, simulation, machine learning, and decision intelligence to solve complex real-world planning challenges.
