The Network Engineers are pivotal in maintaining and enhancing our global network infrastructure. They ensure robust and secure interconnections between locations worldwide, keeping security at the forefront.

What you will do

  • Act as a technical expert in designing and implementing networking solutions for Kinaxis' global offices.
  • Proactively identify and implement enhancements to Networks, and infrastructure to avoid service disruptions.
  • Research, design, and implement hardware, software, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Handle network design considerations, including architecture, implementation, scalability, and application of security policies.
  • Occasionally, participate in on-call shifts, travel, and work outside regular hours to resolve critical operational issues.
  • Support resolution of critical issues and perform project tasks to avoid organizational disruptions.
  • Manage and maintain the day-to-day operation of the global network infrastructure: Ensure the smooth operation of the network infrastructure by maintaining and managing all aspects of the global network daily.
  • Resolve complex issues: Promptly address and resolve complex issues that are escalated from the Service Desk, ensuring efficient and effective ticket resolution in Service Now.
  • Act as the SPOC for vendors: Serve as the Single Point Of Contact (SPOC) for vendors from a technical perspective, managing vendor relationships and ensuring technical requirements are met.
  • Create bill of materials: Develop detailed bills of materials for vendors to bid on, providing clear and accurate specifications for procurement.
  • Ensure compliance with criteria: Design system deployment plans that comply with security, capacity, and availability criteria to ensure robust and secure network operations.
  • Develop deployment tools: Create and develop tools that facilitate the efficient deployment and management of global networks, enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Maintain documentation: Keep detailed network maps, administration guides, and process documentation updated and stored in Netbox for easy access and reference.
  • Ensure security and reliability: Ensure the security, reliability, and scalability of network environments to meet business requirements, proactively addressing potential vulnerabilities.
  • Design continuity solutions: Design solutions that support business continuity and disaster recovery plans, ensuring network resilience in the face of disruptions.
  • Provide updates: Regularly provide updates to leadership and stakeholders during significant technological changes, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with teams: Work collaboratively with internal and cross-functional teams to achieve network objectives and support organizational goals.
  • Conduct industry research: Stay informed on industry trends and conduct research to ensure alignment with corporate strategy and the adoption of best practices.
  • Train and coach team members: Train and coach technical team members on emerging technologies, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

Technologies we use

  • Cisco: Proficiency in Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls; understanding of Cisco IOS and NX-OS; experience with Cisco ASA, Cisco Meraki, and Cisco ISE.
  • Tellabs: Expertise in Tellabs Optical LAN solutions, including configurations and management of Tellabs 1000 and 1200 series, and familiarity with Tellabs Panorama software.
  • Some knowledge of the Ubiquity network eco system
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud; experience with cloud networking services, VPNs, VPCs, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Wi-Fi: Understanding of wireless networking standards (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax); experience with Wi-Fi planning and design, site surveys, and troubleshooting; proficiency in managing wireless controllers and access points.
  • Security: Strong grasp of network security principles and practices; expertise in firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and multi-factor authentication (MFA); experience with security compliance standards and best practices.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent experience is acceptable.
  • 5-7 years of experience in network deployment and PON management on a global scale.
  • Excellent communicator, adept at delivering concise messages to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, providing actionable business recommendations.
  • Highly agile, capable of managing workloads in dynamic and urgent environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to swiftly realign technical priorities to meet evolving business requirements.
  • Design and lead the implementation of premier solutions for enterprise networks, including Ethernet, fiber, WAN/LAN, Wi-Fi, and data centers.
  • Adaptable and collaborative, able to integrate seamlessly into the company's culture and work cohesively with diverse teams.
  • Proactive and innovative mindset, contributing positively to the company's goals and fostering a supportive work environment.
  • Commitment to the company's values and mission, ensuring alignment between personal objectives and organizational goals.
