Location

This is a hybrid position. You must be in the Ottawa, Canada office, at least three days a week. 

About the team

We’re looking for someone with a passion for finance and tax to join our finance team. Someone who works well in a team environment and independently. A self-starter with a can-do attitude and enthusiasm for learning, the Tax/Finance Co-op Student will be part of a fast-paced, global team, and will act as a partner to support the day-to-day operations of the tax and finance team and the business.

 

This is a 8 month position, starting January 2025 

What you will do

  • Work within the tax function to assist in global income tax accounting and worldwide tax compliance processes
  • Assist with the preparation of working papers and tax provisions as part of our quarterly financial reporting process
  • Assist with the preparation of working papers to support transfer pricing charges to related parties
  • Assist with the preparation of indirect tax filings and reconcile the underlying financial statement account balances
  • Assist with the preparation of working papers as part of our global tax compliance process for our corporate tax obligations in various jurisdictions (Canada, U.S., EMEA, APAC)
  • Research, analyze, prepare summaries, and present findings on various tax/finance matters to tax team and/or other teams within finance organization
  • Perform monthly reconciliations to support financial statement account balances
  • Provide assistance with various audit support requirements
  • Provide support for month-end requirements
  • May perform other projects as assigned, which are dependent on business initiatives

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Things that would definitely help

  • Familiarity with the use of accounting systems is an asset, specifically NetSuite
  • Related previous work experience is an asset
  • Understanding of intercompany accounting and foreign currencies
  • Experience in research and analysis
  • Completion of introductory tax course(s) an asset
